Hello!
Last week me and my wife had an opportunity to take a short holiday and go to UK for four days!
I must say we have to thank our parents who agreed to take care of our four daughters in our absence. Rare occasions for us to have such trip just on our own!
Anyway, we flew in on Thursday and visited my Nephew in Oxford, where he took us "backstage" Oxford University, which was great. We also saw fantastic Botanic Gardens, Natural History Museum and absolutely great Pitt Rivers Museum.
On Friday afternoon we traveled to London, where we joined the Perry family to help them at Salute 2023! We have set up the stall, and on Saturday I helped them during the Salute and Ula went to the British Museum!
During Salute Perry Miniatures presented the new sets of Russian Napoleonic Ulhans sculpted by Alan, and the two sets of French infantry for the Franco Prussian War made by Michael, which had a premiere there.
Perry's also presented the 3-ups of the next plastic set in the pipeline that Alan has secretely worked on over the last months! The new plastics will be the Polish infantry of the Grand Duchy of Warsaw! You can find a preview on the Perry Miniatures FB page . As Alan has already said there, I had a privilage to have a "tiny part in the project" giving him a final nudge to release this set. He also generously proposed to sculpt me and my fellow club members (Janusze Wargamingu) as the Duchy of Warsaw infantrymen (we did a secret photo shoot few months ago), and as always he did a great job! This has been a great, not to be forgotten experience and I'm looking forward to see the minis in the final set!
As to the Salute itself, it was the 50th anniversary one and it was big and busy. I only had bout an our to go around the venue, see some other manufacturers and watch the games presented there. All I can say it was overwhelming! Too much to see to experience it in full! You can find a whole list of traders and games here . I managed to resist myself and bought only few blisters of farm animals from Warbases. This will be a nice touch to my table.
In the afternoon me and Ula helped Perry's to pack the stall. They headed back to Nottingham and we stayed in London for another night and day of sightseeing. Unfortunately we didn't know that on the same weekend there was a London Marathon, so the streets were really packed and busy!
On Sunday we started the day with a walk through the Richmond Park where we saw herds of wild deer (probably family of the ones bred there for Henry VIII ;-) ), and the Imperial War Museum. We finished the trip with a pint of ale on the occasion of Saint George's Day (deserved one, as over four days each of us made more than 120,000 steps!).
It was a great trip and experience with lots of fantastic memories. Once again thanks to Alan, Michael, Jill and Holly Perry!

W zeszłym tygodniu ja i moja żona mieliśmy okazję wziąć krótki urlop i pojechać do Wielkiej Brytanii na cztery dni!
Muszę tu podziękować rodzicom, którzy pod naszą nieobecność zgodzili się zaopiekować naszymi czterema córkami . To była rzadka okazja, abyśmy mieli taki wyjazd tylko we dwoje!
W każdym razie, przylecieliśmy w czwartek i odwiedziliśmy mojego bratanka w Oksfordzie, gdzie zabrał nas „za kulisy” Uniwersytetu Oksfordzkiego, co było świetnym doświadczeniem. Widzieliśmy również fantastyczne ogrody botaniczne, Muzeum Historii Naturalnej i absolutnie wspaniałe Muzeum Pitta Rivers'a.
W piątek po południu pojechaliśmy do Londynu, gdzie dołączyliśmy do rodziny Perrych, aby pomóc im na Salute 2023! Szybko rozstawiliśmy stoisko, a sobotę pomagałem im w trakcie targów, podczas gdy Ula pojechała do British Museum!
Podczas Salute'a Perry Miniatures zaprezentowali nowe zestawy rosyjskich ułanów z okresu wojen napoleońskich wyrzeźbionych przez Alana oraz dwa zestawy francuskiej piechoty na wojnę francusko-pruską autorstwa Michael'a, które miały tam swoją premierę.
Perry zaprezentowali tam również 3-upy następnego plastikowego zestawu, nad którym Alan potajemnie pracował przez ostatnie miesiące! Nowymi plastikami będzie polska piechota Wielkiego Księstwa Warszawskiego! Zapowiedź można znaleźć na stronie FB Perry Miniatures. Jak już tam wspomniał Alan, miałem zaszczyt mieć niewielką rolę w tym projekcie, lekko go prowokując do wydania tego zestawu. Alan zaproponował też wyrzeźbić mnie i moich kolegów z klubu (Janusze Wargamingu) jako piechurów Księstwa Warszawskiego (kilka miesięcy temu mieliśmy potajemną sesję zdjęciową) i jak zawsze świetnie się spisał! To było wspaniałe, niezapomniane doświadczenie i nie mogę się doczekać, aby zobaczyć figurki w ostatecznym zestawie!
Co do samego 50tego Salute'a, to był on bardzo duży i głośny! Miałem tylko z godzinę, żeby przejść się po hali, zobaczyć kilku innych producentów i obejrzeć prezentowane tam gry. To, co mogę powiedzieć, to że skala imprezy była przytłaczająca! Zbyt wiele do zobaczenia, aby doświadczyć tego w pełni! Pełną listę sprzedawców i gier możecie znaleźć tutaj. Udało mi się oprzeć pokusie i kupiłem tylko od Warbases kilka blisterków ze zwierzętami hodowlanymi. Będą miłym akcentem na moim stole do gry.
Po zakończeniu imprezy ja i Ula pomogliśmy Perrym zwinąć stoisko. Oni ruszyli z powrotem do Nottingham, a my zostaliśmy w Londynie na kolejną noc i dzień zwiedzania. Niestety nie wiedzieliśmy, że w ten sam weekend odbywa się maraton londyński, więc ulice były naprawdę zatłoczone!
Niedzielę zaczęliśmy od spaceru w Richmond Park, gdzie zobaczyliśmy sporo dzikich jeleni (prawdopodobnie potomków tych hodowanych tam dla Henryka VIII ;-) ) , a później Imperial War Museum. Wycieczkę zakończyliśmy kuflem Ale z okazji Dnia Świętego Jerzego (zasłużone piwo, bo sumie przez cztery dni każde z nas zrobiło ponad 120000 kroków!)
To była wspaniała wycieczka i doświadczenie z mnóstwem fantastycznych wspomnień. Jeszcze raz dziękuję Alanowi, Michaelowi, Jill i Holly Perry!

Salute was great I saw the three ups between people, there was a bit of a scrum at the Perry stall and I didn't really need many Perry boxes, I'll definitely have to get one or three boxes of the Poles when they come out though ! Glad you had a nice break!

Przy okazji Salute i londyńskiego maratonu jest takie powiedzenie, że ci co mogą biegać to idą na maraton, a ci co nie, to na Salute. Świetna relacja i gratuluję utrwalenia twarzy w figurkach. Pomyśleć na ilu stołach w ten sposób zagościsz. Może i ja w końcu przekonam się by wrócić na Salute po latach przerwy, ale obawiam się, że nie miałbym takich hamulców jak Ty i wróciłbym tylko z kilkoma blisterkami do domu. Tym bardziej, że kiedyś płatności kartą nie były tam tak popularne, jak teraz...
OdpowiedzUsuńHehe, coś jest w tym powiedzeniu odnośnie Salute'a i Maratonu. Różnice w wieku i kondycji zawodników były zauważalne, ale mimo wszystko na Salute było też trochę młodszych osób, co mnie cieszy. Co do zakupów, to przeanalizowałem sobie w głowie obecną półkę, a w zasadzie szafę wstydu i stwierdziłem, że z zakupami mogę spokojnie poczekać do kolejnego Salute'a ;-)

UsuńAs to the GdoW minis I saw the early sculpts too and these are getting better and better. For sure I will make some to fight my Austrians!
