Afghan army completed - at least for now...

 Hello,

Just a quick post with the complete Afghan force, at least so far.... 

It consists of:

9 small units (of twelve each) of Afghan Tribesmen including 1 unit of Ghazis

1 unit of Tribal Cavalry (9)

4 units (of 18 each) of Afghan Regulars

1 small unit of Afghan Highland Guard (8 minis)

1 12lb Armstrong gun 

1 Mountain gun

4 commanders including the Malalai of Maiwand.

As I said earlier, all miniatures are on single bases + corresponding movement trays from Black Grom Studio. All minis from Perry Miniatures except of the Highland Guard which is from Wargames Foundry (Michael's P. sculpt though). The flags are from Perry Miniatures and Flags of War/Studio Miniatures.

Now onto the colonial British, and some new projects - 1815 Brunswickers and some 1870's Prussians....

Tylko szybki post z moją całą armią afgańską, przynajmniej jak na razie....

Składa się ona z:

9 małych jednostek (po 12) plemion afgańskich, w tym 1 jednostka Ghazi

1 oddział kawalerii plemiennej (9)

4 jednostki (po 18 sztuk) regularnej armii afgańskiej

1 mała jednostka afgańskiej gwardii (8 figurek)

1 12-funtowe działo Armstronga

1 armata górska

4 dowódców, w tym Malalai.

Tak jak wspominałem wcześniej, wszystkie figurki są na pojedynczych podstawkach z odpowiednimi trejami z Black Grom Studio. Wszystkie modele z Perry Miniatures, oprócz Highland Guard, które są z Wargames Foundry (ale także rzeźby Michael'a P.). Sztandary są z Perry MIniatures i Flags of War/Studio Miniatures.

Teraz biorę się za kolonialnych Brytyjczyków i kilka nowych projektów - armię Brunszwiku z 1815r i Prusaków z lat 1870/71...

Regular Afghan Brigade and command - 2nd Afgan War

 Hello,

Just a quick post with lots of minis that I finished last night.

This time I made a regular Afghan brigade consisting of four units of infantry, small unit of "Afghan Highlanders" (Michael Perry's sculpts for Wargames Foundry), 12lb Armstrong gun + command for all of my Afghan brigades. I will try to make photos of the whole army soon.

The Afghan part of the project is finished (3 brigades for Black Powder). Time to move on to the British force!

Krótki post z mnóstwem figurek, które skończyłem wczoraj wieczorem.

Tym razem stworzyłem brygadę regularnej armii afgańskiej składającą się z czterech jednostek piechoty, małej jednostki „Afghan Highlanders” (rzeźby Michaela Perry dla Wargames Foundry), 12-funtowego działa Armstronga + dowództwo dla wszystkich moich afgańskich brygad. Wkrótce postaram się zrobić zdjęcia całej armii.

Tym samym skończyłem afgańską część projektu (3 brygady do Black Powdera). Czas przejść do sił brytyjskich!

Afghan Tribesmen - 3rd box

 Hello Everyone,

Last night I have finished the third box from the Perry Miniatures Maiwand Deal. 

As before I made them on single bases, and will add movement trays later to play Black Powder (I want to make them in bulk for the whole army). Having finished the Tribesmen from that set, I still have to paint the limited edition Malalai of Maiwand that was included in this three box deal.

The flags are from Studio Miniatures manufactured by Flags of War.

Then I move on to the regular Afghans - 4 units of infantry + one 12lb Armstrong gun and some commanders to finish. 

Once I complete it, I will have three Afghan brigades for Black Powder, and a lot of single based minis to play some skirmish games. Then off to paint som British!

Wczorajszej nocy skończyłem trzecie pudełko z zestawu Maiwand Deal od Perry Miniatures.

Tak, jak poprzednio, dałem je na pojedynczych podstawkach. Póżniej dodam treje, żeby grać w Black Powdera, ale będę je robił na raz dla całej armii. W dalszym ciągu mam do pomalowania limitowaną Malalai, która była dołączona do tego zestawu.

Chorągwie są z Studio Miniatures, a produkowane przez Flags of War

Potem biorę się za regularną armię afgańską - 4 oddziały piuechoty, jedno działo 12 funtowe Armstrong i kilku dowódców.

Jak to skończą, będę miał trzy afgańskie brygady do Black Powdera i mnóstwo pojedynczych figurek do różnych skirmishy. No i następnie biorę się za Brytyjczyków.

1st Regiment Kaiser Franz Chevaulegres and some updates

Hello everyone,

After another long delay I slowly return to my painting projects.

I must admit that over the summer I havn't done much hobby related other than playing some skirmish games.

After a holiday in Finland (I might do a separate post on the fantastic military museums there!) my time was occupied mostly with doing preserves for the next season (this year we put 224kg of vegetables and fruit in form of jams, marmalades, sauces, etc, on top of some liqueurs and kim chi that I have in the making!), and preparation to my first Long Shot competition (100, 200 and 300m) with my 1902 Schmidt Rubin rifle.

Anyway, I finally got back to painting, and first of all I recently finished a large squadron (well in Black Powder) of 1st Regiment Kaiser Franz Chevaulegres with two squadrons of Cuirassiers to follow soon (hopefully). These are the Perry Miniatures figures that I put together last year during my post-covid convalescence and then forgotten about being occupied by the Afghan project.

Speaking of the 2nd Afghan War currently I have in the making another three units of the tribesmen as well as 4 units of regulars and artillery that I want to finish in the next few weeks.

Po kolejnej długiej przerwie powoli wracam do swoich projektów malarskich. Muszę przyznać, że przez całe lato nie zajmowałem się zbytnio hobby poza graniem w różne skirmishe.

Po wakacjach w Finlandii (swoją drogą chyba zrobię osobny post o tamtejszych fantastycznych muzeach militarnych!) byłem zajęty robieniem przetworów na kolejny sezon (w tym roku zrobiliśmy w słoikach 224kg warzyw i owoców w postaci dżemów, marmolad, sosów , itp., a do tego trochę likierów i kim chi!) i przygotowaniami do moich pierwszych strzeleckich zawodów długodystansowych (100, 200 i 300 m).

Tak czy inaczej w końcu wróciłem do malowania i niedawno ukończyłem duży oddział (do Black Powdera) 1 Pułku Szwoleżerów Karl Franz. Są to figurki Perry Miniatures, które skleiłem w zeszłym roku podczas mojej post-covidowej rekonwalescencji, po czym o nich zapomniałem, zajmując się "projektem afgańskim".

Mówiąc o drugiej wojnie afgańskiej, obecnie mam w przygotowaniu kolejne trzy oddziały "tribesmenów" oraz 4 jednostki regularne i artylerię, które chcę skończyć w ciągu najbliższych kilku tygodni. Kilka zdjęć poniżej.

Recent ACW Black Powder Game

 Hello Everyone,

Last Friday I invited my friend Tomek and hosted a  rather large game of Black Powder.

Taking into account I recently acquired some new regiments of Union and Confederate troops and wanted to give them a go, we played an ACW game. There were five large Confederate brigades of 4 to 5 regiments (4 infantry brigades and one cavalry with accompanying artillery batteries) vs 7 smaller Union brigades of 3 units each (6 infantry and 1 cavalry + artillery batteries) - with overall ~1150 minis on the table.

The game lasted 6 turns with the scales of victory tipped each turn to either side. In the final round Union managed to break the Confederates lines and win the battle despite the surprisingly high number of blunder rolls during the game.

W zeszły piątek zaprosiłem do siebie mojego kolegę Tomka i zorganizowałem dość dużą grę w Black Powdera.

Biorąc pod uwagę, że niedawno nabyłem kilka nowych oddziałów wojsk Unii i Konfederacji i chciałem je wypróbować, zagraliśmy potyczkę z Wojny Secesyjnej. Było pięć dużych brygad konfederatów składających się z 4 do 5 oddziałów każda (4 brygady piechoty i jedna kawalerii z towarzyszącymi bateriami artylerii) przeciwko siedmiu mniejszym brygadom Unii po 3 jednostki każda (6 piechoty i 1 kawalerii + baterie artylerii) - w sumie ~1150 figurek na stole.

Gra trwała 6 tur, a szale zwycięstwa przechylały się co turę na każdą ze stron. W ostatniej rundzie Unia zdołała przełamać linie Konfederatów i wygrać bitwę pomimo zaskakująco dużej liczby rzutów na "blunder" w trakcie gry.
