I couldn’t resist and made myself a treat.
For number of years a Polish publisher Karabela has been publishing albums on the Polish units during the Napoleonic wars.
There are two series of books - Polish Army Under Napoleon’s Command (unfortunately the first one about the Vistula Legion being already out of print), and the Army of the Duchy of Warsaw.
This is a great source material for anyone interested in the period. All the books from the series are almost 3000 pages with 1/3 being full color plates, so it is great even for non Polish readers.
Recently Karabela made a deal for the whole set and as said on the beginning, I couldn’t resist myself of not getting it.
Arrived today, and I love it from the first sight! Great stuff and highly recommended!
Get it till it’s still available and they follow the fate of the book on the Vistula Legion.
I hope Karabela will publish another book on the Hussars and Cuirassiers to complete the set and that I will find the missing one on the VL.

Nie mogłam się oprzeć i zrobiłem sobie prezent.
Od kilku lat polskie wydawnictwo Karabela wydaje albumy poświęcone polskim jednostkom w okresie wojen napoleońskich.
Są dwie serie książek – Wojsko Polskie w Służbie Napoleona (niestety wyczerpał się nakład tomu o Legii Nadwiślańskiej) oraz Armia Księstwa Warszawskiego.
Jest to doskonały materiał dla wszystkich zainteresowanych tym okresem.
Wszystkie książki z serii to prawie 3000 stron, z czego 1/3 to pełno-kolorowe plansze!
Ostatnio Karabela zrobiła promocję na cały zestaw i tak jak wspomniałem na wstępie, nie mogłam się oprzeć, żeby go nie kupić.
Zestaw dziś do mnie dotarł i muszę przyznać, że zakochałem się od pierwszego wejrzenia!
Super sprawa. Gorąco polecam!
Kupujcie, póki jeszcze dostępne i zanim podzielą los nakładu Legii Nadwiślańskiej.
Man nadzieję, że Karabela wyda kiedyś tom o Huzarach i Kirasjerach, żeby zakończyć serię wydawniczą i że uda mi się gdzieś dorwać tom o LN.

Zacna lektura. Pamiętam jak kupowałem swoje, to Legia była tylko gdy kupiło się cały zestaw. Wybór był tylko jeden ;) Dzięki temu Legia jest w moich rękach. Z tego co wiem, to plansze do Kirasjerów mają gotowe i chyba tekst też, ale jakoś nie mają ochoty tego złożyć do kupy. Trzeba ich o to nękać ;)
OdpowiedzUsuńTak, zadałem nawet pytanie na ich FB co z kirasjerami, huzarami i strzelcami konnymi (mogliby w sumie zrobić to w jednym tomie, bo to raptem w sumie 6 pułków), ale jak przejrzałem starsze posty, to gdzieś pisali, że ze względów ekonomicznych odpuścili temat. Wielka szkoda, bo tak jak mówisz sporo plansz już była zrobiona i nawet wydana w starym albumie "Kawaleria"

The books look great; I was wondering where the coverage of the Chassuers was! I already have very substantial forces for the Poles - the entire Vistula Legion, 4 Infantry units, 4 Uhlans,1 Hussar, and a Chassuer plus 2 Foot batteries; I have Murawski figures for the beautiful Horse Artillery; have to get them on the painting table this year!
OdpowiedzUsuńI contacted the publisher, and unfortunately they are not going to do the remaining book on the Cuirassiers/Hussars/Chasseurs. Mr Morawski who does the drawings is now pretty old and not able to complete the project. He has drawn many ilustrations for this units in the past and they were published by a different publisher - Bellona many years ago.
