20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment

 Hello,

Last week I took a break in painting the Afghans and got back to long forgotten American Civil War Project. I haven't painted anything for ACW for a long time, but got tempted when watching photos from the recent campaign carried out in Alan's Perry home an published on the Perry Miniatures facebook page. Exactly one year ago I was lucky to play the introductory game for that campaign, with the battle report here. Great company, time and experience!

This time I took from my pile of shame some Union troops and painted them as the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment, a unit with some spectacular achievements and most known for its defense ot the Little Round Top at the Battle of Gettysburg. I must say, that the commander looks a bit like Joshua Chemberlain ;-) 

I'm not entirerly happy with the unit, as there was a bit too much of speed painting involved, but I was rushing to get back to the Afghans, with a cavalry unit to be painted this week.

W zeszłym tygodniu zrobiłem sobie przerwę w malowaniu Afgańczyków i wróciłem do dawno zapomnianego projektu wojny secesyjnej. Od dawna nie malowałem niczego do ACW, ale skusiłem się, oglądając zdjęcia z ostatniej kampanii przeprowadzonej w domu Alana Perry i publikowanej na facebookowej stronie Perry Miniatures. Dokładnie rok temu miałem szczęście zagrać w grę wprowadzającą do tej kampanii, a raport bitewny można znaleźć tutaj. Wspaniałe towarzystwo, czas i doświadczenie!

Tym razem wziąłem ze szafy wstydu oddział Unii i pomalowałem go jako 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment, jednostkę ze spektakularnymi osiągnięciami, najbardziej znaną z obrony Little Round Top podczas bitwy pod Gettysburgiem. Muszę powiedzieć, że dowódca wygląda trochę jak Joshua Chemberlain ;-)

Nie jestem do końca zadowolony z tego jak oddział wyszedł, bo było trochę za dużo speed paintingu, ale spieszyłem się, aby wrócić do Afgańczyków i oddziału kawalerii, który zamierzam pomalować w tym tygodniu.
