Hello Everyone!
New year started and I hope you will all find it better than the obviously difficult 2020.
I wish you all especially good health and sanity in this strange times, and hobby wise possibility to be able able to meet and game with your friends in person in the close future!
Speaking about hobby, recently I was working on some old projects and made some new ones.
First of all, before Christmas I have put together the "Stoic Arms" and "Valliant Stables" I purchased during the Black Friday sale at 4Ground, which was a very good deal. I must say, the building of the Tavern was very time consuming (I might make a separate post on this, as I took lots of photos during the process), and it took me over 23hrs in total to put it together! These are two very nice sets that will expand my terrain collection for some skirmish fantasy games including the 17C based Witchfinder General : Days of Revelation or even some ECW Pike & Shotte games, if the other players will not bother about the fantasy look. Oh! And I renamed the tavern to the "Prancing Pony"!
Speaking fantasy, Over the Christmas I worked on some old Warhammer figures and starting a Vampire Counts army. The idea we had with friends was to make something like "Tale of 5 gamers" challange with starting 5th edition armies basing on old minis and starting from the scratch. We want to build 500pts worth of armies every 3 months, and play along as we paint (group battles with 500, 1000, 1500 and 2000pts/person). For the first part of the chellange I painted a unit of 20 skeletons (I think this was the first multipart set Games Workshop manufactured in the 90's, and I managed to buy it last year at a bargain price still shrinkwrapped), 3 fell bats and a Black Coach, that caused real mayhem during the first battle!
On the historical side I still work on the Austrian Chevaulegres, that take more time than I wanted (mostly because of the side projects).
For the current year I have a plan to focus mostly on the 2nd Afghan War and do both the Afghan and the British army to build it to the level of 3-4 brigades per side (4 Afghan and 3 British) to play Black Powder and start with some units to play AWI as well.
I'm currently painting some test British test figurs for Afghanistan, that I will show soon. Again like with the Afghans I did recently I will base most of the minis on single bases + movement trays, to allow me to play both Black Powder and The Men Who Would be Kings. For the regular units for Black Powder I decided this time to make 18 figure regiments, that will allow me to build the armies quickly, that could be expanded later.

Rozpoczął się nowy rok i mam nadzieję, że dla wszystkich z
Was będzie lepszy niż „nietypowy” rok 2020.
Życzę Wam wszystkim szczególnie dużo zdrowia (także
psychicznego ;-) ) w tych dziwnych czasach, a hobbystycznie możliwości bezpośrednich
spotykań i gry z przyjaciółmi w niedalekiej przyszłości!
A propos hobby, ostatnio pracowałem nad kilkoma starymi
projektami, ale rozpocząłem też nowe.
Po pierwsze, przed świętami Bożego Narodzenia złożyłem „Stoic Arms” i „Valliant Stables”, które
kupiłem podczas wyprzedaży w Czarny Piątek w 4Ground, co było naprawdę bardzo
dobrą okazją. Muszę przyznać, że budowa Tawerny była bardzo czasochłonna
(mógłbym w sumie napisać osobny post na ten temat), a złożenie jej zajęło mi
łącznie ponad 23 godziny! Są to dwa bardzo fajne zestawy, które poszerzą moją
kolekcję terenów fantasy do kilku systemów, w tym XVIIw Witchfinder General:
Days of Revelation lub nawet gier ECW w Pike & Shotte, jeśli innym graczom
nie będzie przeszkadzać konstrukcja „fantasy”. O! I zmieniłem nazwę tawerny na
„Pod Rozbrykanym Kucykiem”!
Mówiąc o fantasy, w Boże Narodzenie pracowałem nad kilkoma
starymi figurkami do Warhammera i utworzeniem armii Wampirów. Pomysł, który
mieliśmy ze znajomymi polegał na stworzeniu czegoś w rodzaju „Tale of 5
gamers”, polegającego na złożeniu armii do piątej edycji Battla w oparciu o
stare figurki. Chcemy budować armie o wartości 500 punktów co 3 miesiące i grać
etapami (bitwy grupowe z 500, 1000, 1500 i 2000 punktów na osobę). Na pierwszą
część „czelendżu” pomalowałem 20 szkieletów (wydaje mi się, że był to pierwszy zestaw
wieloczęściowy Games Workshop wyprodukowany w latach 90-tych i udało mi się go
kupić w zeszłym roku po okazyjnej cenie i wciąż w folii!), 3 nietoperze i Black
Coach, który wywołał prawdziwy chaos podczas pierwszej bitwy!
Od strony historycznej nadal pracuję nad austriackimi szwoleżerami,
którzy zajmują więcej czasu niż chciałem (głównie z powodu pobocznych
projektów).
W bieżącym roku planuję skupić się głównie na drugiej wojnie
w Afganistanie i robić zarówno armię afgańską, jak i brytyjską, i zbudować je
do poziomu 3-4 brygad na stronę (4 afgańskie i 3 brytyjskie), tak, aby grać w
Black Powdera. Chcę też pomalować kilka jednostek do AWI.
Obecnie maluję testowe figurki brytyjczyków na Afganistan,
które mam nadzieję wkrótce pokażę. Podobnie jak w przypadku niedawno
pomalowanych Afgańczyków, większość figurek będzie pojedynczych podstawkach + trejach,
aby umożliwić mi grę zarówno w Black Powder, jak i The Men Who Would be Kings.
Dla jednostek regularnych do Black Powdera zdecydowałem się tym razem na
18-figurkowe oddziały, co pozwoli mi szybko zbudować armie (które będę mógł
później rozbudować).
